Composite bonding is one of the fastest ways to make dramatic improvements to a person’s smile. The procedure involves using tooth-colored resin in order to make changes and adjustments to a person’s teeth, while also repairing minor damage. Our composite bonding treatments look very natural and offer excellent results.
Some applications of composite bonding include:
- Filling cavities
- Repairing damage caused by injury or decay
- Making color adjustments
- Reducing any gaps that are present
- Making adjustments in spacing
- Adjusting tooth heights
- Correcting misshapen teeth
- Protecting the roots of teeth
Due to the simplicity of composite bonding treatment, only one visit to our practice is required to complete the procedure. To start, any tooth that is designated for bonding will be thoroughly cleaned. In order to ensure that the bonding provides the patient’s teeth with a natural appearance, an exact shade of composite resin that matches the patient’s natural tooth color will be carefully selected. If any of the teeth feature noticeable decay or deterioration, the damage will be removed before the treatment begins.
Once the teeth are prepared, the composite resin will be applied onto the teeth in multiple layers. Using a dental curing light, each layer will be individually hardened. When the optimal level of thickness has been attained, the composite material will be given the opportunity to fully harden, allowing it to reach the proper consistency. To complete the process, the teeth will be buffed and polished, leaving them with a natural appearance. If composite bonding is maintained properly, it should remain intact for up to ten years.
