Break Up Stains the Smart Way

Female patient during in-office teeth whitening

If you're confident, you smile more. If you smile more, you feel more confident. But what if you don't want to flash your smile because you're embarrassed by yellow teeth?

Sometimes a new smile emerges from the simplest steps. Teeth whitening removes years of dingy stains from your teeth. Coffee, tea, wine, tobacco, and chocolate can all dull white enamel surfaces. A brilliant boost along with some gentle polishing and reshaping of chipped, uneven edges can create an easy transformation. Simple and safe, most patients don't realize how much discoloration embeds into their teeth until they see a new shine emerge.

Numerous products crowd supermarket shelves. While we don't discourage these methods, you may want to consider the advantages of professional whitening:

  • Customized system : We offer in-office whitening that removes years of stains within an hour or less. We also can make trays that fit your teeth like a comfortable glove for whitening at home. Together, we'll find the right system for your situation and the best results, sometimes even combining the two methods for maximum short and long-term benefits.
  • Controlled gel formulas : We use the highest quality whitening formulas available for safety and consistency. It’s important to beware of temperature-sensitive gels stored in uncontrolled environments or made in an unknown setting.
  • Sensitivity management : You may experience temporary sensitivity in your teeth while whitening. We have specific strategies for you to use and will customize the product and method to help you have a comfortable and safe whitening experience.
  • Long-term results : Buying a box of whitening strips every few months adds up. A session with us in the office can provide an instant effect that may take days and multiple boxes of strips to obtain on your own. Alternatively, you'll have a system that should fit for years if you leave with custom trays. A simple refill syringe of gel picked up occasionally from our office allows you to keep your smile fresh for years to come.

Teeth whitening offers a predictable boost to your confidence through the power of a smile. Your ProSmiles Dental of White Settlement team draws on years of experience to help deliver smile transformations safely and comfortably, and we are happy to answer any questions you have.

Teeth Whitening FAQs

You may love the idea of having your teeth professionally whitened. However, you likely have questions about this treatment that you would like to have answered before you commit to anything. That is why we have assembled the following list of frequently asked questions about teeth whitening. If you do not find the information you were looking for, contact our team. We will be happy to personally address any questions or concerns you may have.

How Long Does Teeth Whitening Take?

If you opt for an in-office procedure, you can see a dramatic change in the color of your teeth in just an hour or so! Before your whitening session, however, we may recommend that you have your teeth thoroughly cleaned. That will increase the effectiveness of the whitening, and you will be able to leave our office with a stunning smile that you can’t help but show off.

How Can I Maintain My Results?

With proper maintenance, your brightened smile may last for years. You should:

  • Stick to a thorough oral hygiene routine that includes daily flossing and twice-daily brushing with a whitening toothpaste.
  • Consume staining foods and beverages in moderation. When you do drink something that might discolor your teeth, such as coffee or red wine, you can minimize its staining potential by drinking it through a straw.
  • Avoid the use of cigarettes and chewing tobacco.
  • Visit us at least twice a year for a thorough cleaning. When necessary, we can help you touch up your teeth’s whiteness.

Does Teeth Whitening Work on All Types of Tooth Discoloration?

Professional teeth whitening is effective on the discoloration that results from the consumption of highly pigmented foods and beverages. It can also reverse some of the dullness that comes about as a result of age. However, it does not work on dental fluorosis (white spots on the teeth), nor is it effective at reversing the stains that can result from certain types of medication. If you are suffering from such types of discoloration, ask us about other cosmetic procedures that may be able to give you the bright, confident smile that you deserve. Dental bonding or porcelain veneer may be an excellent choice for your circumstances.

Why Is Professional Teeth Whitening Better Than Over the Counter Options?

Many OTC whitening options produce mediocre results at best, and they may take several weeks or longer to do so. Professional whitening is much faster. It penetrates deeper into the teeth to break up even deep-set stains, so it can help teeth become truly radiant. Plus, since it is done under the supervision of a skilled dentist, you can be confident that it is safe.

How Much Does Professional Teeth Whitening Cost?

When you visit us for your cosmetic consultation, we’ll let you know how much your teeth whitening procedure will cost. Because this is a purely cosmetic procedure, your dental insurance is highly unlikely to cover it. However, you can get a 15% discount on whitening if you join our in-house membership plan. In general, teeth whitening is one of the most affordable cosmetic dental services.
